The world’s first blockchain solar plants construction initiative explained how everyone can participate against the Climate Change.

There are 3 main ways to act against the climate change, and we take them all

The first one is the active position. One can beat poison emissions by expanding the live trees area. One grown tree can absorb almost 40 kilograms of CO2 per year, so you just need to plant it. Solar DAO is often performing special contests and events for its Community. Not so long ago we held a «Plant a Tree» contest, and are already preparing a new one.

The second way you can stay against the global warming is to become greener. So does Solar DAO, as solar energy is the leader of alternative energy sources. Constructing a solar plant help to avoid tons of CO2 emissions. For example, the future 4 MW solar farm in Kazakhstan, which is under Solar DAO’s implementation, will reduce 3 760 000 kilograms of poison each year. This amount can be compared to 97 445 grown trees’ absorption.

The last but not least way to help our planet is cooperating and teaching. Solar DAO is now one of the Climate Chain Coalition members, so the blockchain projects start to cooperate for the global mission, and everyone now should take a part in it.

Energy consumption per capita. Country Ranking

From 2000 to 2013, global energy investments have increased by 100%. It’s not just about popularizing renewable energy since the lion’s share of electricity needed of the population is generated as earlier — from fossil energy sources. Besides the rapid growth of global energy consumption, mankind has to face the increase of harmful emissions and environmental worsening.

To visually show the responsibility’s share of each person and to note which countries should try to reduce electricity consumption or accelerate the green energy transition, let’s look at the World Bank’s report on the energy consumption per capita in different countries:

For the sake of clear result, consumption is calculated in fuel equivalent — the amount of oil needed to provide a certain level of energy.

Necessary to know

To really understand how important it is to care for the environment, we want to show how “expensive” electricity is.

Take for example an ordinary home light bulb with a power of 100 watts. Let’s leave the lights on throug the whole year*(sure, you will need to replace the bulb several times, you know :))*.

Let’s make a simple calculation:

  • 24 hours a day = 8760 hours per year.
  • 0.1 kW multiply by 8760 = 876 kW/hour.

In order to ensure the operation of one bulb during the year, we need to:

  • Burn 320 kg of coal (1 ton of coal approximately gives 2500 kW/hour)
  • Spend 2 hours for a wind turbine with a capacity of 1.5 MW, 25% of efficiency.
  • Take 35 minutes for a solar power plant with a capacity of 1.5 MW (an area of ​​about 3 hectares, imagine!).
  • Decay 16 grams of Uranium.
  • Spend 2.5 hours of a hydro-electric turbine operation, with a capacity of 339 kW.

We wanted to show clearly that any extra consumption of electricity is detrimental to ourselves. Please, love renewable energy and save resources.

Solar Energy development tendency in 2018

As you already know, renewable energy is a promising technology not only to minimize electricity costs but also significantly reduce the negative effect on Ecology. Every year, solar energy increases its pace of development, while reducing productional costs. According to SolarPower Europe, in 2017 the European countries have built 8.6 GW of solar plants, which is almost 2 GW more than a year before. The total solar generation capacity in Europe was 110 GW last year.

Energy Trend made an encouraging forecast for Solar Energy growth in 2018. According to the company, the new installed capacity will pass the mark of 100 GW this year. The solar industry leader — China — will build solar power of almost 50 GW. Despite the fact that China’s RES development rate will be reduced (it was rather bigger than 50 GW last year),** the****global growth will be achieved through the European countries**.

Spain, Mexico, Egypt, the Netherlands, and Brazil will be the new leaders in the solar industry development, — according to Greentech Media research. These countries will cross the 1 GW point and compete with the “old solar champions”.

We should also mention Spain. The country declared plans to build more than 20 GW of solar power plants in various territory parts in 2018. Spain has rich resources for using solar generation due to the high insolation level. The largest project companies like Enel and High Energy are to build PVS without using government funding. Thus, Spain will become a competitive country and will only increase its own installed capacity.

An additional reason for the European Solar Energy growth is the end of the minimum import price (MIP) for solar modules in September 2018, the restriction imposed by the European Commission.

What about the US?

As we remember, in the last 2 years the United States policy in relation to renewable energy has changed dramatically. In June 2017, the country left from the Paris Agreement aimed at preventing global warming and reducing CO2 emissions. The United States have declined support and funding for large-scale green energy development.

Despite this, the number of states that have passed 1 GW point of installed capacity will increase to 18 (from 2018 to 2020), — GreenTech Media reports.

The US solar generation cost for domestic use will remain the highest in the world. An important reason for this is the high customs duties for foreign solar modules. Thus, local producers will be forced to look for ways to reduce the cost by changing production.


The****US solar energy market growth will decline by more than 10%. Again, because of high customs duties. According to GreenTech, the problem will become especially noticeable next year, when early imported photo-electric modules will be no more available.

4 ways to tell children about the importance of energy saving

As you know, the problem of reasonable energy distribution is growing every year: the cost of electricity becomes higher, the usual classic power plants are in crisis.** A careful attitude to electricity and renewable energy is the only way to meet the needs of the world’s population in the future**, without harm to the environment. In this article, we will tell you how to teach children to use energy efficiently.

Knowledge means power

When your child begins to be interested in the environment, be sure to tell him about where the electricity comes from and why home appliances work. Conduct these lessons interestingly and entertaining — you can find special educational books, websites, and even cartoons. We advise you to get children’s literature about waste disposal and the wise use of water and electricity in everyday life. You can also find exciting materials about the greenhouse effect in a simple language understandable for children — with illustrations and easy terms.


Give each child an individual responsibility. Invite the children to make a list of eco-rules that will be observed by the whole family. Let someone control the light in the house — whether other family members turned off the electricity, going for a walk. Another child can control the allocation of garbage so that other family members do not make mistakes, separate the plastic from the paper in time, and also collect it for recycling. This way will allow children to become more confident, being part of a very important business — caring for the environment. They will be very pleased to occasionally remind parents of the rules and feel more grown up 🙂.

Family traditions

Think of special events for your family to save electricity and water, that you will spend on a monthly basis. It can be an inspection of your home for ecological reasons — whether unnecessary electrical appliances are turned on, whether the electricity limit has been exceeded for the previous month, maybe its time to replace some devices with more environmentally friendly ones.

A great idea for a family day is an** evening without electricity**. Assign a specific day in which you turn off all electrical appliances at home. At this time, you can** play board games** with the whole family, **walk to the park **or even better — plant trees! Such an amusement is very useful for children — kids will rely on their imagination, and your family will receive a great tradition. Moreover, you can not limit yourself to one day, but to arrange a whole week without electricity. Why not go camping at this time?

Show on personal experience how important it is to conserve natural resources — is the most important stage in the formation of correct thinking of your child. International ecological dates

In the last few years, mankind has begun to actively protect the environment. For the sake of good purposes, there are special organizations created, the world’s richest people donate funds for fighting pollution, special dates are established. Ecological days are made to pay attention to the urgent problem. Today we will tell what holidays are celebrated every year, why it is created, and how to participate in it.

International Day of Action for Rivers — March 14
Rivers, water and life. The river day has been celebrated since 1998. At the suggestion of American environmental movement, this day was created because of dams’ negative effects. Every year thousands of people forced to move because of flooding or improper redistribution of water because of obstacles. On this day it decided to organize meetings and seminars on the protection of fresh river water. The goal is to protect the natural flow of water from human intervention.

Earth Day — March 20, April 22
Earth Day is one of the most ambitious events that has been carried out since the 80s of the last century. Actions are held in two stages: on spring equinox day and on April 22. The spring festival encourages thousands of people every year to make every effort to protect their home — Earth. In the springtime, nature is renewed, and people help it by cleaning of territories and reservoirs and, of course, planting of trees. The Peace Bell sounds on the Earth Day as a symbol of humanism and careful attitude to nature.


The Earth Hour — the last Saturday of March (March 24 in 2018)
Annually thousands of volunteers and large organizations participate in the Earth Hour action. This event was created to draw attention to the problem of environmental pollution. From 20:30 to 21:30 local time people turn off electrical devices in support of reducing consumption. The action symbolizes humanity’s readiness to intelligently consume electricity, thereby reducing harmful emissions from the power stations. The action was established by the WWF in 2009 and every year more and more people become a part of it.

Sun Day — May 3
In 1994, the day of the most promising source of renewable energy was established. Solar energy increases the rate of growth and efficiency every year. Annually on May 3, there are made a lot of exhibitions and solar technologies celebrations. The purpose of the events is to show people the innovations of the industry and once again note the prospects of solar energy.

Wind Day — June 15
Just like solar energy, the wind industry is fast developing. In June, there are annual shows that call on people and large corporations to switch to wind energy. An excellent option to celebrate this day is to launch kites to support the wind energy development.

World Animal Day — October 4
The essence of the holiday is clear to everyone — pay attention to the problem of the extinction of rare species and speak out in defense of animals. Since 1931, activists are opposed to environmental pollution and the destruction of animals natural habitats, and in some countries even special church services are held on this matter. We also pay special attention to our pets, since the problem of cruel treatment of animals is still relevant in the world.

Solar Panels and Water save. Caring about the environment

It’s not a secret that reducing fresh water trend is one of the hottest topics for discussion at environmental forums and conferences. According to the scientists’ forecasts, by 2025 almost 2.5 million people will face the lack of water. The problem of increasing consumption appears not only because of global population growth. The main factor in water supply reduce is environmental pollution and urbanization.

At the end of last year, there was a conflict on the hydroelectric Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam construction between the governments of Egypt and Ethiopia. Both countries are almost 100% dependent on freshwater from the Nile. The river is a matter of “life and death” for Egypt and Ethiopia, therefore,** fearing a redistribution of water resources**, the countries came to resolve the conflict with the help of independent parties. The agreement was reached on the basis of mutual interests consideration. The HPP construction will continue.


Already at the moment, more than 300 cities in China suffer from extreme water shortage. Water resources face losses due to a constant increase in the industrial pace.


The demographic growth naturally affects the consumption of fresh water in this country. It is said that by 2050 Nigeria will become the leader in terms of the number of people. At the same time, due to the constant pollution of rivers and a small number of reservoirs, a large part of the population has practically no access to clean water.

Imagine the scale of the problem. There was passed a bill banning people from using unofficial sources of water: private wells, water bodies. At the same time, only 1 out of 10 people can financially provide himself so can get water from the state or private suppliers.

India and Pakistan

More than 20% of infectious diseases in India are caused by the lack of clean drinking water. The constant****increase of conflict between the Hindustan Peninsula countries is caused by the reduction of water resources. According to the UN, the first nuclear war can occur between India and Pakistan because of the growing conflict over the Indus River water use.


One of the most economically developed countries also suffers from a shortage of water resources. Already many years ago southern states had problems with fresh water due to frequent droughts and huge industrial consumption.

Solar energy will help solve the water problem

Due to the fact that every year the total capacity of installed PVS grows, and more families switch to self-service with the help of solar panels, the freshwater consumption is reducing. And sometimes, solar panels even serve as a source of water resource.

Cooling without water

Only in the US, 45% of the total amount of fresh water was consumed to cool conventional fuel power stations in 2010. According to Oxford University study, over 53 billion cubic meters of fresh water is spent on the energy sector every year. Solar power plants do not require cooling and do not consume water in operation. To generate one unit of energy, PVS use****200 times less water than a conventional power plant. — IRENA reported.

Water consumption reduce during production

According to the River Network — a special organization for water resources monitoring, wind, and solar stations are the friendliest ones in water use while the equipment production. It’s not just the fact that solar panels consume a very small amount of water at the development stage, but also because it can be recycled. Recycling makes it possible to significantly reduce fresh water consumption. In addition, solar equipment does not require water during installation and throughout all its operation.

Solar panels protect water

Recently, solar stations began to be built not only in the usual way — on the ground, but also on the water. This method has a lot of advantages: small countries can place PVS without occupying the land. Floating solar power plants have other big pros — water retain. Overwater constructions prevent strong evaporation, and this is very important in arid regions. 
India recently built a solar plant above the channel with fresh water. Thus, people not only save on electricity but also have a larger water reserve. The government intends to actively develop this technology.

Solar panels produce water

In 2016, a Zero Mass Water young startup showed the world the latest technology — water-generating solar panels. The technology is very clear — in addition to transforming sunlight into electricity, modules also accumulate steam from the air, collecting up to 5 liters of clean water a day! As the developers said, the principle is similar to air conditioners, which produce water “from the air.” The invention works completely by its own solar panels, and after the collection, the distilled water is mixed with minerals and served for drinking.
The project team says that such panels can be used not only for home use (only 1 block is enough for a family of 4 members) but also for corporations and municipal enterprises.

We want to note the main advantage of solar energy in the struggle for water conservation. 85% of the world’s freshwater reserves are frozen in the northern ocean. Solar power plants do not produce CO2 in work, so there is no air pollution and growth of the Greenhouse Effect. Solar power once again proves that its development means** great prospects for the whole world**.

Hope for the Sun. How Solar Energy gives a second life to atomic projects

Switzerland, being one of the most progressive and rapidly developing countries in the world, completely abandoned nuclear energy. In May 2017, here was conducted a referendum on energy development. The citizens’ majority voted for abandoning the nuclear power stations. The Swiss government plans to replace the existing stations with ecological facilities — hydropower, wind and solar ones.

The turning point in the world nuclear policy was the well-known accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1986. Hundreds of operating nuclear facilities have stopped their work at a moment and still remain in an abandoned option.
The peak of production of nuclear power plants came in 2006. Today’s global trend towards nuclear power plants is its decline. For 20 years, production fell by 7% and in 2015 it was only 10.7%.

After the explosion in Fukushima, many countries have announced a complete abandonment of nuclear energy. In addition to the fact that the largest energy power countries closed most of its nuclear facilities, the governments of such countries as Australia, Portugal, Norway, Georgia, Ireland and many others told about the cancellation of plans for the nuclear construction.

The largest nuclear tragedies of the past 30 years are deeply sat down in human minds. No country would like to repeat such terrible incidents, so even countries whose energy is almost 100% depends on nuclear power are trying to improve the safety of facilities and move to alternative energy sources. Thus, France plans to enter the green energy leaders by 2050.

After the United States came out from the Paris Agreement, French President Emmanuel Macron suggested everyone take part in the struggle against the climate problem — and go to France. “Make our Planet great again!”


After the accident at the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the territory of almost 1,000 square kilometers became unsuitable for human use. The abandoned zone was left for many years until the state adopted a new plan for the green energy development in Ukraine.

Last year, Ukraine announced a new stage in the RES development, launching a tender for solar plant construction in Chernobyl.

In October 2017, “Solar Chornobyl” began active work on installing the Solar Plant. The beginning of PVS work is planned to be next month. The capacity of this station is approximately 1000 MW, enough to supply the needs of the average village in Ukraine.

The Ukraine Government plans to implement all kinds of support for the reconstruction Chernobyl area (600 hectares) in the RES zone.


In 2019, it is planned to build a solar power plant in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. The area is known primarily due to the nuclear tragedy in 2011. Immediately after the incident, Japan was forced to abandon the use of nuclear power plants. Almost all nuclear facilities were stopped. Regarding this, the government is actively seeking and developing alternative energy in its country.

The future PVS in Fukushima will allocate 42 MW of electricity, reducing the pollution of CO2 by 300,000 tons per year.

Three Mile Island

The accident at the Three Mile Island NPP power unit, which took place in 1979, was not so much a significant event for environmental pollution as the reason for maximizing the already existing nuclear crisis.
1960–1970 period is characterized for America by energy events. During this period hundreds of potentially dangerous objects canceled their work. You can also see the list of 100 closed nuclear power plants in the US.

Recently, forgotten nuclear power plants start being used as safe power stations. For example, an abandoned station in Sergoinsville now has solar panels producing 1 MW of electricity, which is enough for about 100 families.
Of course, solar energy can not be compared with the nuclear production, if the object was used for original purpose.

History lesson: development of Solar Energy

Renewable energy — a promising technology, which became known as the eco-friendly alternative way quite recently. Nowadays solar energy differs from other RES because of its efficiency and an incredible rate of development. The history of solar inventions is also amazing.

The first prototype.

In 1767 a Swiss scientist Horace de Saussure invented the first solar collector. It was an installation for converting direct sunlight into thermal energy.
Less than a century later,the first solar installation, converting sunlight into electricity was invented in France.
A successful experience in solar panel use was made after 100 years: in 1958, the second successfully launchedNASA satellite was powered by solar.

Society for the Solar development

In the 20th century, many countries began to actively advocate for the support of solar energy technologies. In 1978, the first organization called the Solar Trade Association (STA) was created in Britain. Their main goal is to promote solar energy and make its implementation easy and effective for domestic and commercial use.

1992: in Rio de Janeiro, the “Earth Summit” adopted the UN Convention on Climate Change, which was joined by 180 countries around the world (the Framework Convention on Climate Change). The Convention described general principles for governments’ actions for the renewable energy introduction and against the climate change.
In April 2000, the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC) was founded. In 8 years, the first International Summit on Future Energy was held (“World Future Energy Summit”). After a year there was founded a well-known International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi.

His name was Albert Einstein

Contrary to popular belief that Albert Einstein received the Nobel Prize for his theory of relativity — in reality, his colleagues really appreciated the contribution to the development of photovoltaics.
In 1921, Albert Einstein was awarded the Nobel Prize for explaining the laws of the external photoelectric effect. “And for other works in the field of theoretical physics” 🙂

Important Events

    1. Alexander Becquerel first discovered the phenomenon of the photoelectric effect in the electrolyte.
    1. Charles Fritz created the first working photovoltaic cell based on selenium. It was the first functioning solar cell. The performance of this element, of course, was small — 1%. Imagine how fast the technology develops, if at the moment the efficiency of solar cells exceeds 40%.
    1. The birth of photovoltaic solar energy. scientists from Bell Labs created a silicon photovoltaic cell.

Oleg Solodukha is one of the first silicon solar cells developers for terrestrial applications. He achieved 12 patents in the field of solar energy, among them — double-sided solar cell technology.
The Solar Wind company, founded by Marat Zaks and Oleg Solodukha was the only manufacturer of double-sided solar panels until 2013.

Introduction and development of new RES technologies is not only the idea of economy, but also a huge benefit for the Ecology. Scientists all countries are constantly discovering new ways of producing and distributing Solar Energy. And not only on Earth 🙂

Japan considers a really “cosmic” idea. The Shimizu company plans to surround Moon’s equator with solar panels, electricity from which will be transmitted to Earth for the needs of people. Of course, this idea is still far from implementation, but the future for Solar Industry development is very bright.

Global Green Energy transition

According Stanford University’s research, the full transition of ¾ countries****to RES is expected to be near 2050.
The report included a roadmap for the world’s energy sector. Scientists are sure, that Green Energy jump of 139 countries will not only decrease negative impact on the environment, but also significantly reduce the cost of energy production and create millions of new jobs.


Government support

Already at the end of last century, European countries was seriously thinking about support the growing renewable energy industry. This policy has been made not only to reduce dependence on energy-producing countries, but also to set the right course of future technical modernization.

The best way to support green industry — direct government subsidies, known as Feed-In-Tariff (FIT). Tariff provides guaranteed and long-term payments to investors for the RES electricity. Its price is above market’s one.
In the Great Britain a higher tariff works since 2010. According to this program, more than 1.6 GW of power is currently in operation.

Energy of future

Nowadays solar energy is the most promising area of renewable resources. Recently, IRENA has published a report, according to which solar energy is already competing with the usual coal industry in price.

The cost of electricity from renewable energy decreases every month. There was a very comic situation in 2016 in Germany: consumers did not pay for electricity and also receive money from the government. Such situation had a plece because good weather conditions allowed Germany to provide consumers with energy produced on 87% from RES.

The idea of full Green transition began to seem** more than real**. In November 2017, the Mexican National Electricity Control Center reported that they received a record offer for solar energy — 1.77 cent/kWh from ENEL Green Power.

Given the fact that the world total installed capacity is growing every year, and cost of energy is reducing each time, the world’s prospect for the Solar Energy use is obvious to everyone. Solar projects will allow the world to save ecology and fully provide our needs very soon.

Solar energy is one of the promising areas of renewable energy, based on the direct use of solar radiation to generate energy for heating, electricity and water heating. Just a few years ago it was hard to believe that solar energy will be able to compete with the usual sources of energy. Dreams came true.

New records in 2017

This year, some parts of the world have tried to live only on renewable energy sources.
The first was a province of China. The **Qinghai **government conducted a successful experiment on the temporary transition to renewable sources. Thus, people (around 6 million!) was able to live 7 full days, providing the needs due to the energy of the sun, wind and water.

The next world record was put by the state of Costa Rica. The country was able to meet its needs exclusively at the expense of renewables for almost a year! It took 300 days when 100 percent of electricity production was from renewable sources of energy — this is a real achievement for a country of about 5 million people.

Solar power — trend of the year

A record minimum was set for the cost of solar energy in November 2017: Following Saudi Arabia, **Mexico set a tariff equal to 1.77 ¢ / kWh **(by****ENEL Green Power). This price allowed the company to win a tender for the construction of four major projects with a total capacity of 682 MW.

Further drop in prices will be caused by increased efficiency of solar panels. Recently, JinkoSolar once again broke its own record, achieving in laboratory conditions the efficiency of polycrystalline batteries at 23.45%. Compared to the standard efficiency of 16.5%, this improvement is 42%. And this means, 42% less effort will have to spend on their installation, maintenance and placement.

According to the German analytical company Bernreuter Research, the total capacity of solar installations in the world achieved 100 GW in 2017. A huge role in this was played by China, which took the leading position in the construction of solar power stations — their total country capacity reached 52 GW. Further on: the United States (12.5 GW), India (9 GW), Japan (5.8 GW), Germany (2.2 GW) and Brazil (1.3 GW). Australia, Chile, Turkey and South Korea also made their own records.
